Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern the use of Sentinel IoT devices, digital platforms, and associated services. They define the conditions under which products are supplied, subscriptions are activated, and monitoring services are accessed, ensuring clarity, accountability, and lawful use across all deployments.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

 

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are binding and enforceable against all persons that access, browse, register on, or transact through the Sentinel IoT website, online store, mobile applications, and associated platforms (collectively, the “Platform”), in terms of section 11(3) of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (“ECT Act”).

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately discontinue use of the Platform. Continued use constitutes acceptance of these Terms.

1. Introduction and Mission

Sentinel IoT is committed to delivering secure, reliable, and professionally managed tracking hardware and digital monitoring services. Our offering includes the sale of physical tracking devices, access to a secure monitoring platform, and related subscription-based digital services designed to enhance asset visibility, situational awareness, and informed decision-making.

Where applicable, consumers are entitled to statutory protections under South African law. Nothing in these Terms is intended to unlawfully limit or exclude such rights.

2. Definitions and Interpretation

​2.1 “Catalogue” means the list of products, devices, subscriptions, and services made available by Sentinel IoT via the Platform.

​2.2 “Consumer” has the meaning assigned in the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (“CPA”), namely a natural person acquiring goods or services primarily for personal use.

​2.3 “Sentinel IoT”, “we”, “us”, or “our” refers to Global Security Consulting (Pty) Ltd trading as Sentinel IoT, including its successors or assigns.

​2.4 “Device” means any physical tracking, sensing, or monitoring hardware sold under the Sentinel IoT brand or supplied through the Platform.

​2.5 “Platform” means the Sentinel IoT website, monitoring portal, mobile applications, APIs, and any associated digital infrastructure.

​2.6 “Subscription” means a paid or complimentary licence granting access to the Sentinel IoT monitoring platform and related digital services for a defined period.

​2.7 “User” or “you” means any person accessing, registering on, or transacting through the Platform.

​2.8 “Force Majeure” means events beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, power failures, network outages, regulatory action, civil unrest, or third-party service failures.

3. Scope of Services

3.1 Sentinel IoT provides:

  • Sale of IoT-enabled tracking and monitoring devices;

  • Access to a secure digital monitoring platform;

  • Optional subscription-based services, including alerts, event history, location reporting, and device management;

  • Ancillary support and documentation.

3.2 Sentinel IoT does not provide emergency response, law enforcement services, armed response, or guaranteed asset recovery unless expressly contracted in writing under a separate agreement.

3.3 All services are provided on a best-effort, technology-assisted basis and are dependent on network availability, device configuration, and third-party infrastructure.

4. Orders and Account Responsibility

4.1 All orders are subject to stock availability, device allocation, and acceptance by Sentinel IoT.

4.2 You are responsible for ensuring that all order, delivery, billing, and registration information is accurate and complete.

4.3 Any activity conducted using your account credentials is deemed to have been authorised by you.

4.4 Sentinel IoT reserves the right to refuse, cancel, or limit any order at its discretion, including where fraud, misuse, or regulatory risk is suspected.

5. Pricing and Payment

5.1 Prices displayed are in South African Rand (ZAR) unless otherwise stated and include VAT where applicable.

5.2 Prices may change without prior notice. Orders are billed at the price confirmed at checkout.

5.3 Subscription fees, where applicable, are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis as selected at the time of purchase.

5.4 Failure to pay subscription fees may result in suspension or termination of platform access without prejudice to Sentinel IoT’s rights.

6. Delivery, Title, and Risk

6.1 Delivery timelines are estimates only and may be affected by courier performance or Force Majeure events.

6.2 Risk in Devices passes to you upon delivery to the nominated address.

6.3 Ownership of Devices passes only once full payment has been received by Sentinel IoT.

7. Platform Access and Subscriptions

7.1 Access to the Sentinel IoT monitoring platform is granted subject to an active Subscription or other authorised access arrangement.

7.2 Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, as selected at the time of purchase) and will automatically renew unless cancelled in accordance with the applicable subscription terms presented at checkout.

7.3 A grace period of fifteen (15) calendar days applies to overdue subscription payments. During this period, platform access may be restricted but not permanently terminated.

7.4 If payment remains outstanding after the grace period, Sentinel IoT reserves the right to suspend or terminate platform access without further notice.

7.5 Upgrade, downgrade, or plan-specific entitlements, limitations, and pricing are defined and agreed at the time of purchase and form part of these Terms by reference.

7.6 Sentinel IoT may modify, suspend, or discontinue platform features, provided such changes do not materially undermine paid access without reasonable notice.

7.7 Platform data is informational in nature and may include delays, inaccuracies, or gaps due to technical, environmental, or third-party network limitations.

8. Acceptable Use

8.1 You may not:

  • Use the Platform for unlawful surveillance or monitoring;

  • Track persons or assets without lawful authority or consent;

  • Reverse engineer, interfere with, or compromise Devices or the Platform;

  • Resell platform access without written authorisation.

8.2 Sentinel IoT reserves the right to suspend or terminate access for misuse or regulatory non-compliance.

9. Warranties and Returns

9.1 Devices carry a limited manufacturer’s warranty, typically 12 months, unless otherwise stated.

9.2 Devices are not sold on a trial basis and suitability remains your responsibility.

9.3 Defective Devices may be returned subject to verification and the issuance of a Return Authorisation (RA) number.

9.4 Software, subscriptions, digital services, and activated SIMs are non-refundable once provisioned, except where required by law.

10. Consumer Protection

10.1 Consumers retain all rights afforded under the CPA and ECT Act.

10.2 Cooling-off periods, return rights, and refund obligations apply only where legally mandated and subject to statutory conditions.

11. Intellectual Property

All intellectual property in the Devices, Platform, software, data structures, trademarks, and content remains the property of Sentinel IoT or its licensors. No rights are granted other than those expressly stated.

12. Limitation of Liability

12.1 Sentinel IoT does not guarantee the prevention of loss, theft, misuse, or unauthorised movement of any asset or item to which a Device is affixed.

12.2 Devices and the Platform provide technology-assisted visibility and event awareness only and do not replace physical security measures, procedural controls, or lawful oversight.

12.3 Sentinel IoT is not liable for indirect, consequential, or economic loss, including loss of profits, data, business interruption, reputational harm, or third-party claims.

12.4 Sentinel IoT’s total liability arising from any claim is limited to the amount paid by you for the specific Device or Subscription giving rise to the claim.

13. Privacy and Data Protection

13.1 Personal information is processed in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”).

13.2 Platform usage data may be aggregated and anonymised for operational and analytical purposes.

14. Force Majeure

Sentinel IoT is not liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from Force Majeure events, including but not limited to power outages, mobile network failures, satellite disruptions, regulatory intervention, or third-party infrastructure outages.

 

 

15. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. You consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts for all disputes arising from or relating to these Terms, the Devices, or the Platform.

 

 

16. Risk and Use Disclaimer

16.1 Certain Sentinel IoT Devices may be designed for use in regulated, controlled, or high-risk asset environments, including but not limited to security equipment, operational tools, or restricted assets.

16.2 You are solely responsible for ensuring that use of the Devices and Platform complies with all applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, and consent requirements, including those relating to surveillance, monitoring, firearms control, privacy, and data protection.

16.3 Sentinel IoT does not authorise, condone, or facilitate unlawful tracking, covert surveillance, or misuse of Devices against any person or asset.

16.4 Deployment of Devices in weapon-adjacent, security-sensitive, or restricted environments is undertaken entirely at your own risk and discretion.

 

 

17. Amendments

Sentinel IoT may amend these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after publication constitutes acceptance of the amended Terms.

18. Entire Agreement

 

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Sentinel IoT relating to use of the Platform and supersede all prior representations.
